CanNorth has a strong foundation and proven expertise in environmental assessments and environmental monitoring and is looking to increase its capacity in its Biology Division.

CanNorth is seeking a highly motivated and experienced environmental monitor to work with our talented and innovative multidisciplinary team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities in this position will include:

- Ensuring compliance with all environment permits, regulatory requirements, legislation, government approvals, and project environmental protection plans.
- Implementation of environmental field studies (e.g., environmental assessments, mitigation plans, etc.).
- Environmental field support during construction activities (may include, but not be limited to, conducting breeding bird surveys, nest sweeps, amphibian salvages, wetland delineation, weed identification, rare plant identification, biosecurity protocols).
- Liaising with contractors and clients at construction sites (e.g., kickoff/tailgate meetings, BMPs).
- Data collection and management.
- Completing daily reports and safety documentation in a timely manner.

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of 3 years of past experience in environmental consulting is required, with primary monitoring experience in the power or oil and gas industry (SPIGEC Guideline #6).
- Good knowledge of the environmental management process regarding planning, approvals, construction, mitigation, and reclamation.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental or biological sciences.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Be willing/able to be away for extended periods of time (up to several weeks).

The applicant must have superior communication skills; be able to correspond with clients and contractors in a professional way; be a team player; be highly motivated and have a positive attitude. Direct experience monitoring construction of linear developments such as oil/gas pipelines or transmission lines and potentially relevant training courses such as erosion and sediment control and environmental monitoring are considered an asset. Certification in First Aid and past experience operating a variety of field equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, ATVs, UTVs) is also considered part of a good foundation.

- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
