Wellington-Altus is growing at an incredible pace, and so is our HR function. To continue to provide responsive, best-in-class HR support to our teams across the country, we are excited to welcome another Manager, Human Resources to our team.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources (“VP”), and working along the existing Manager, Human Resources and Manager, Culture & Engagement, the Manager, Human Resources will play a key role in providing strategic support for human resource operations, processes, policies and systems. The Manager will be responsible for partnering and collaborating with leaders and teams to create, develop, communicate and execute on strategic initiatives across the organization, and will work closely with the VP to lead and develop a team to deliver HR services on an assigned portfolio.
Key responsibilities may include, based on the assigned portfolio:
Organizational Development & Strategy
- Being a strategic business partner to the VP, working to determine strategic HR needs that align with the operations of the organization
- Partnering in the development of human resources strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Conducting research and analysis of organizational trends including review of metrics and data to create solutions to address specific needs
- Identifying organizational issues/areas of concern through analysis of general employee concerns and feedback including exit interview survey information. Works closely with leadership team to provide feedback as well as recommendations for improvement
- Reporting to management and providing decision support through HR metrics, providing recommendations for new/updated HR systems, policies and procedures across the organization
Talent Acquisition
- Overseeing the Talent Acquisition program, ensuring processes and procedures are in place to meet the staffing needs of the organization
- Identifying processes and opportunities to the deliver on the WA Talent Acquisition Strategy.
- Providing regular reports to the VP on recruitment statuses across the organization
Employee Relations
- Leading and mentoring the human resources team, providing ongoing coaching and development while ensuring proper resourcing and delegation of key functions, including onboarding/offboarding, and day-to-day people management
- Providing counsel and advice to leaders in areas related to company policies, employment standards and laws, performance and attendance issues, termination procedures, harassment issues, conflict issues, progressive discipline, employee development, and employee relations in a manner that supports a positive work environment
- Driving the performance management process to accurately assess talent, including facilitating performance management discussions with employees and managers and ensuring consistency, fairness, timelines and effectiveness of performance conversations and interventions to maximize performance. Ensure that managers and supervisors are developing strong action plans
- Championing employee engagement, assessing company culture and employee morale and provide recommendations to the Vice-President on changes to accomplish company goals and objectives
- Have a pulse on the climate and engagement of employees and partner with Training & Development ensure they have the tools they need to optimize their performance and develop
- Develop and promote cultural activities, including being a member of the Culture Committee
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or similar field of study; equivalent combination of education an experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive human resource experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in an HR leadership position, leading and developing a team of HR professionals
- Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation an asset.
- Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry an asset
- Ability to effectively envision, develop and implement new strategies to address HR business issues in a geographically dispersed environment.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- High tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities
