Reporting to the Supervisor, Aquatic Programming, the Training Support Coordinator (Recreation) will support, implement, manage and lead divisional training for use by Recreation and other department staff. This function is done by liaising with the divisional business unit contacts to ensure the training resources and Divisional course files are available for use by Recreation staff in a manner that supports staff in service delivery and meeting training requirements.
GENERAL DUTIES
Under the direction of the supervisor, responsible for the coordination, delivery and documentation of recreation Divisional trainings and professional development.
Prepare training resources and presentation materials on new and changing processes in conjunction with sensational service objectives.
Utilizing software systems (Legend, HOWI/Peoplesoft, or other Learning Management Software) input trainings for staff to register.
Provide support to the division by maintaining communication tools for staff awareness on upcoming training and professional developments.
Under the direction of the supervisor, develops relationships with other Divisions, governing bodies (Ontario Lifesaving Society, ORFA, etc.) or leading municipalities in order to share, obtain information, and maintain current knowledge of course changes or new potential offerings beneficial to the division.
Ensure all staff communication and resources are of the highest quality and consistency possible, including correct spelling, grammar, accuracy and use of approved styling.
In conjunction with supervisor, clarifies procedures and gathers feedback from recreation staff to verify understanding.
Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned which are directly related to the normal functions of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Completion of a relevant degree or diploma such as; Municipal Government, Recreation and Leisure, Organization Leadership or Human Resources, Education, or a combination of relevant work experience
2. Considerable customer service experience with preference given to those who have worked in recreation.
3. Demonstrated knowledge gained in Legend Software or other learning management programs with progressive on the job experience training staff.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate effectively and tactfully with peers, all levels of management, elected officials and customers.
5. Highly developed organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and change management skills.
6. Experience in innovation and process improvements.
7. Experience with information/knowledge management systems for service delivery in one or more service delivery channels including; authoring, updating workflows, version control and managing user feedback mechanisms.
8. Experience training adult learners including; resource development, presentations and conducting evaluation.
9. Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team setting in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
10. Preference will be given to those who are current Standard First Aid Instructor and Examiner.
11. Must have a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence and provision of a vehicle for use on the job.
