Job Description: - "We connect communities and customers to the people and places important in their lives.”_ **COMPENSATION SPECIALIST** Victoria (Head Office) As a key member of the People Services team, in this new and exciting role to BC Ferries, you will help shape, oversee and administer compensation to remain competitive, fair and equitable in an evolving and competitive global landscape. You will work with Operational and People Services leaders to assess equity and competitiveness of compensation programs. Compensation is foundational to supporting accountability, performance, organizational trust and workforce satisfaction. Our goal is to attract, retain and motivate while positively impacting turnover. Responsibilities include: - Evaluate through a cycle of continuous improvement the effectiveness of the compensation philosophy in supporting business needs along with workplace culture; - Ensure that compensation practices comply with current legislation (pay equity, human rights, etc.); - Perform market analysis, compensation framework competitiveness and job evaluation; - Participate in salary and labour market surveys to remain current on the market competitiveness of prevailing pay rates and benefits; - Develop and deploy effective communication strategies supporting transparency in compensation administration and structure - Define and maintain success metrics for compensation; - Ensure internal pay equity fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment; - Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues and best practices and recommend change to compensation structures where needed; - Conduct periodic audits and prepare reports. Complementing these skills, you bring experience in HR practices and compensation cycle management, job evaluation and job analysis, labour market surveys and have knowledge of current labour dynamics and regulations. You remain current on employment and human rights considerations, as well as the changing labour market dynamics. You have extensive knowledge of HRIS, MS Office (Excel among other suite offerings) and bring strong quantitative and analytical skills. - At BC Ferries, our employees are our most important assets in delivering our commitment to customer safety, service and satisfaction.
