As one of BC's Top Employers, our people are our most valuable asset. We are growing our Total Rewards team and looking for an experienced Compensation Specialist to play a critical role for our Total Rewards function.

Our Compensation Specialists support both bargaining unit and exempt roles. As a subject matter expert, you will support the design of our compensation programs, from shaping, facilitating, and explaining the job evaluation process to conducting compensation analyses, to developing reports and tools that support data informed decision making.

The Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Collaborating with our People Experience Business Partners (HR) and hiring managers in providing expert guidance on compensation related matters including reviewing jobs, qualifications, and evaluation documentation;
  • Developing and managing compensation strategies;
  • Leading market analysis, salary and labour market surveys and analyzing pay data to remain current on the market competitiveness of prevailing pay rates and ensuring our approach to compensation is competitive and enables the organization to attract and retain talent;
  • Maintaining pay structures to ensure a competitive compensation framework and internal equity;
  • Providing advice on improvements for current job evaluation practices;
  • Supporting pay transparency reporting, executive compensation reporting, and periodic audits/reviews and practices complying with current legislation and internal pay equity to support a diverse and inclusive work environment;
  • Gathering and analyzing pay data for compensation reports and providing support to the Manager, Total Rewards in the creation of those reports;
  • Supporting the review process with research and recommendations on corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems;
  • Creating and updating job families and profiles in our internal databases;
  • Conducting ongoing research and analysis on emerging compensation trends, issues and best practices and recommending changes to compensation structures where needed;
  • Together with the Manager, Total Rewards, supporting the coordination of annual compensation review cycles;

What you bring to the team

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in compensation within a large organization
  • Experience with job architecture and job evaluation
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel including managing databases and creating Excel charts
  • Advanced knowledge of navigating HRIS
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, a service-oriented mindset, and keen attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Certified Compensation Professional designation or in progress is considered an asset

  • The target salary range: $105,200 - $131,500 per annum

The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate's knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
