The Fleet Maintenance Manager, reporting to the General Manager of Operations, is responsible and accountable for maintaining a fleet of vehicles and equipment for Collective Waste Solutions of Alberta and ensuring that this fleet is always maintained in accordance with company expectations and standards set by the company, and governing bodies including but not limited to the Alberta and Canadian Department of Transportation and Commercial vehicle inspection certification program.

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is accountable for maintaining a fleet of heavy-duty waste disposal trucks, light duty passenger vehicles and heavy equipment. This position oversees 8-10 technicians in both shop and field service and all shop operations. The company fleet currently consists of approximately 160 assets located in Alberta Canada with locations in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

**Accountabilities**
- Effectively prioritize multiple and competing priorities and tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Work effectively with business leaders, partners and stakeholders to ensure results among competing priorities.
- Provide attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Meet deadlines consistently and provide regular progress reporting to supervisor.
- Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally to the organization.
- Always abide by the organization’s confidentiality agreement within this contract and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Provide strong, consistent and accurate reporting. Communicating to senior leadership, reporting supervisor and stakeholders to ensure strategic short and long term and capital decision-making accuracy.
- Provide leadership and guidance on a daily basis to reporting team and partnering supervisors and managers.
- Utilize experience to find and execute cost saving initiatives.
- Ensure a safe, respectful and progressive working environment for all direct and indirect employees.

**Primary Responsibilities**

**1. Technician / Shop Management**
- Daily productivity planning and scheduling of technician duties as delegated and assigned in conjunction with the location lead technician.
- Daily review of technician times to ensure productivity and execution of scheduling.
- Daily meeting with lead technicians to oversee, advise and ensure execution of servicing, repair and scheduling.
- Daily review with operations to ensure prioritization of customer needs and technician focus to ensure uptime of critical assets needed to complete operational customer schedule.
- Daily work order review to ensure proper procedures are being followed and adhered to meeting company expectations regarding productivity, inventory utilization and asset up time.
- Daily interaction and planning with third party service providers in locations not serviced by technician team as well as locations within technician servicing to execute service and maintenance strategy to company expectations and within budget targets.
- Parts inventory management to ensure obsolescence, inventory utilization, inventory stocking level, inventory charge out, and reconcile audit targets are met.
- Ensure regular site inspections, pertaining to but not limited to, shop safety, cleanliness and organization expectations, and shop efficiency are regularly evaluated and proactively improved.
- Ensure technician adherence to (F)field, (L)level, (H)hazard, (A)assessment criteria are met consistently.
- Ensure shop safety inspections are completed monthly and action items resulting from those inspections are readily and with urgency addressed and completed.
- Ensure shops are equipped with the required tooling and certifications are met, kept accurate and up to date.
- Lead and provide weekly safety meetings and ensure sign off with technician covering relevant topics and engaging technician team in site and shop safety improvement strategies.

**2. Asset Management**
- Ensure asset requirements according to the department of transportation are met without compromise, including but not limited to repair and maintenance exceeding commercial vehicle legislation and documentation.
- Ensure asset inventory is continually updated and complete with all required information up to date.
- Regularly review with supervisor asset procurement and capital acquisition plan to ensure alliance with company strategy short and long term.
- Provide monthly update regarding asset management strategy to supervisor.
- Manage rental assets ensuring onboarding, PDI, and off boarding in a timely manner to ensure cost mitigations to the organization. Plan and report on rental strategy vs purchasing acquisition plan to mitigate rental cost impacts.
- Regularly update long-term replacement strategy including cost savings vs return on Investment.
- Proactively plan and execute an asset retirement plan eliminating scrap or unnecessary assets.
