Multi-sports Instructor

The Abby Community School is looking for fun and motivated individuals to join their instructing team. We are looking for program instructors who will lead our Multi Sports Program for children.

**What is a community school?**

It is a designated school facility that is open beyond the traditional school schedule to offer a variety of community learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Community schools are multi-service facilities working in partnership with other community agencies, organizations and individuals to improve the quality of life in the community. Our Community school will be running classes out of schools in Abbotsford and are such as but not limited to, Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, Abbotsford Middle School, Eugene Reimer Middle School, Chief Dan George Middle School, Dormick Park Elementary, Alexander Elementary School, Matsqui Elementary, Ross Elementary, Godson Elementary, Prince Charles Elementary, Clearbrook Elementary, Ten-Broeck Elementary, Terry Fox Elementary, Centennial Park Elementary, Harry Sayers Elementary, Dave Kandal Elementary and Auguston Elementary, and Aberdeen Elementary.

To enrich the lives of the people in our community by offering a wide range of cultural, recreational, and educational programs and opportunities.

Applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Current First Aid is an asset. Compensation is based on experience and programs that are being led. Compensation for successful applicants starts at $17.40 per hour for this program.

**Duties**:

- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students in accordance with the curriculum
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to help students understand and perform various skills
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student participation and success
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development
- Collaborate with paired instructor to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience
- Create a detailed lesson plan for 6 weeks (program runs 1-2 times per week)
- Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment for students
- Be in excellent communication with the Program Supervisor.
- Work independently and be in charge of up to 12 students
- Be passionate to work with children (elementary & middle school aged)
- Attend all scheduled shifts (afternoon)
- Fill out incident reports, speak with parents, and Program Coordinator when necessary
- Follow ACSS' Protocols & Procedures
- Treat ACSS Staff, Parents, Students, & School Administration with respect at all times
- Work well with others & has a team minded mentality
- Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment for students
- Be adaptable & able to troubleshoot
- Be energetic & create positive rapport with ACSS Staff, Students & Parents

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as an instructor or in a related field is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students of all ages
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping students succeed
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
