The Abby Community School Society is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and sport-focused individuals to join our instructing team We are currently hiring **Sports Program Instructors** who are passionate about working with children and youth through active, fun, and engaging sports-based programs.

What is a community school?

A community school is a designated school facility open beyond the traditional school schedule to provide a variety of learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Our programs are run in partnership with local organizations, community members, and schools to enrich the lives of children and families in our neighbourhoods. Classes are held at schools across Abbotsford, including (but not limited to):

What is our goal?

To inspire and engage children through fun, active, and inclusive sports programming that promotes physical health, teamwork, confidence, and a love for movement.

**Position Details**

As a **Sports Instructor**, you’ll be leading afterschool sports programs for elementary and middle school-aged children (ages 5-14). Programs may include soccer, basketball, multi-sport, dodgeball, fitness-based games, and other athletic-based activities.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Plan and lead age-appropriate sports sessions (typically once a week for 6-week sessions).
- Provide a fun, encouraging, and safe environment for all participants.
- Supervise and engage with students in physical activities and team-building exercises.
- Set up and clean up sports equipment before and after each session.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude with students, staff, and parents.
- Monitor student behaviour, address concerns, and report incidents to the Program Coordinator as needed.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator regarding attendance, behaviour, or equipment needs.
- Uphold and enforce health and safety standards, including basic first aid when necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with children and/or youth in a coaching, instructional, or leadership role (preferred).
- Background in physical education, coaching, recreation, or child/youth development (asset).
- Current Emergency First Aid Level C certificate (preferred).
- A clear Criminal Record Check (will be completed by ACSS).
- Availability to work between **2:00pm - 5:00pm**, **Monday to Thursday** (programs typically run 2:15pm-4:15pm or 2:45pm-4:45pm).
- Reliable, punctual, and passionate about promoting physical activity in a positive, inclusive way.

**Compensation**
- Starting at **$17.85 per hour**, with potential for increase based on experience and program responsibilities.

Expected hours: 4 - 10 per week
