JOB SUMMARY

The Estimator is responsible for completing full project estimates in order to estimate costs and produce project quotation.

REPORTING

The Estimator reports directly to the Senior Estimator of Toro Aluminum BC.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

**Health & Safety**:

- Ensure cleanliness of working area
- Work in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations including using any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer
- Report any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the employer or supervisor.

**Technical / Function-Specific**:

- Perform take-off of drawings
- Review specifications and properly interpret all budget/tender documents
- Produce take-off, project summary and other documents required to be reviewed with management for budget/tender proposals
- Distribute all budget/tender documents to subcontractors
- Perform various pricing exercises for budget/tender proposals and other estimation that is required
- Review quotation received from subcontractors and make sure that it is in line with project requirements.
- Draft quotation proposal to be reviewed with management

**Internal / External Customer Service**:

- Assist other departments within the group of companies with regards to scope verification
- Coordinate requirements for price requests from subcontractors

**Administration**:

- Distribute all budget/tender documents to subcontractors
- Analyze all received quotes from the subcontractors
- Prepare detailed quantity lists of labour and materials

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE

**Education**:

- University degree or college diploma in architecture / architectural technology or equivalent experience

Experience
- 2- 5 years quoting/estimation experience
- Building envelope industry experience is an asset.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong mathematical skills

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proficient in, Excel, Word, Bluebeam
- Some experience in Revit
- Excellent attention to detail, communication skills and time management skills
- Window-wall experience is an asset
- Possess exceptional organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to read blue prints
- Possess building envelope knowledge
