**Job Purpose and Reporting Structure**:
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Lab Technician performs work involving the testing of the product to ensure it meets customer requirements.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The main responsibility includes conducting quality assurance tests to ensure malt meets the customer’s standards and requirements.
- Performs laboratory research/tasks.
- Records observations, measurements, and reports results.
- Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and maintenance of all clean rooms and equipment.
- Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Assess lab test result validity prior to reporting to manufacturing or customers.
- Verify and issue customer reports.
- Maintain and improve lab operations by assisting in the development of lab employees and coordinating the maintenance and purchase of lab equipment.
- Compare lab test results with expected outcomes to evaluate test result validity prior to reporting.
- Works every other weekend or as needed.
- Provide technical support to the sales function by preparing special samples and analytical information.

**Qualification Requirements**:

- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- High school diploma or its equivalent required with classes in Chemistry or Food Science.
- Two years’ experience as a laboratory technician in a food environment is
- An Associate degree in Food Science is a plus.

**Protective Clothing Required**:
The employee must wear safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat and a full face respirator when working in manufacturing areas.

**Language Skills**:
Ability to read, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

**Mathematical Skills**:
Ability to carry out standard computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentage calculations and division.

**Reasoning Ability**:
Ability to identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

**Other Skills**:
Requires ability to plan and prioritize, develop work schedules, and basic machine care_._
