We are looking for our next Assistant Vice President, Property Claims to influence and operationalize the strategies and direction set by the VP and Senior Leadership Team for the national business unit in terms of the overall department practice and people management, service delivery, and operational development of the Property line of business in Claims and Customer Service.
The AVP Property Claims will focus on the main areas of accountability below:
What you’ll do:
- Business Leadership and Management:_- Accountable for the management and oversight of significant indemnity reserves and spend (supports planning and leads implementation of enterprise and C&CSO initiatives, ensuring delivery requirements, in the context of standard processes, without disruption to operations. This includes but is not limited to being the LOB representative and key change leader driving Quality Transformation, ECM and BST, and alignment of the LOB to Commercial Lines Transformation)- Provides input to VP in support of future strategic direction and change including input to annual business planning and priority setting- Accountable for the operation’s financial health (productivity, budget, quality) including analysis and action planning of monthly RAM reports- Monitor team capacity, workload and work assignment; find opportunities to partner with other LOB for shared staffing deployment as appropriate- Seek opportunities to improve policies and processes to enhance their effectiveness- Leverage systems and technology to enable streamlined process and improve efficiency and productivity. This includes the planning, development and change management of the ECM and systems adoption for the national business unit.- Significant change and partner management, assessing, handling and planning the impact and implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives
- Practice Development:_- Provide support and direction to Property Claims Technical Trainer with respect to technical training opportunities for Claims teams and assist with coaching and mentoring and training as required.- Participate in Claims management meetings and provide guidance in development of strategies and protocols to improve the company’s claims handling, including integration with Audit, Risk, Litigation and Fraud teams
- People Management:_- Partners with the VP and LOB PAC member to drive the people engagement plan for the national LOB- Determines capacity, capabilities needs and expertise (current and future state)- Guides the hiring and professional development of staff, including looking after performance issues, assessing and evaluating performance, and supporting career planning- Sets objectives, assesses performance, and evaluates talent for all members of the team, balancing the overall needs of Aviva Canada’s business
What you’ll bring:
- A minimum of 7-10 years major case claim-handling experience- A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a team leadership role, through progressive levels of accountability/team size- Proven track record of developing and/or implementing efficient and effective strategies in order to enhance delivery and ensure that goals and targets are met on a consistent basis.- Comprehensive working level knowledge and skill in various business line products- Developing and presenting briefings to senior leadership (EVP, SLT, RAM meetings)- Ability and confidence to make independent decisions on most assigned claim files without involvement of Vice President, where appropriate- University Degree (Post-graduate designation preferred)- CIP/FCIP designation preferred- In-depth understanding of property claims handling at senior level across both personal and commercial lines including complex commercial accounts- In depth understanding of building construction and estimating practices and software- Business management ability with experience translating strategy into sound technical and business processes- Ability to understand, synthesize and interpret complex data/information, to audiences with varying levels of expertise- Ability to influence and persuade individuals or groups to meet a desired agreement, both inside and outside of the Property and Warranty Business- Strong technology aptitude; ability to use business technology tools to effectively leverage, assess, analyze, and communicate information
