Reporting to the Manager - Clinical Innovation & Client Safety, the Coordinator - Clinical Learning & Practice works in collaboration with clinical managers and teams, and provides mentorship, education, and professional and clinical skill development to support the implementation of best practice strategies into direct client centered care. As part of the Collaborative Practice team and in consultation with managers and teams, the key responsibilities include identifying learning needs and planning; implementing and evaluating education opportunities in line with the strategic priorities; acting as a role model in clinical excellence and corporate principles; and providing leadership to staff in advancing clinical performance through consultation, role modeling, education, coaching, and mentoring.

**Specific Accountabilities**:
Acts as a clinical expert/resource/consultant to establish, maintain, and improve client care delivery; demonstrates expert knowledge and synthesis of expert nursing practice within a clinical specialty.
Acts as a resource and mentor to nursing colleagues and others to improve and support nursing practice.
Assists in the skill development of nurses including clinical, problem solving, critical thinking, and leadership.
Develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and facilitates education; attends and actively participates in ongoing staff orientation, workshops, in-services and training sessions; shares new information with appropriate audiences and clinical staff; integrates new concepts/knowledge/skills into the work setting.
Critically analyzes research literature to support client care and recommend changes in clinical practice (e.g., policy and procedure revision/development, learning toolkits and Standard Operating Instruction).
Promotes excellence in clinical practice through the development of evidence-based clinical programs and services; staff education; and the facilitation of critical thinking, inquiry, and analysis; coaches staff in translating best practices into care strategies that facilitate self-directed learning and encourages reflective practice.
Represents the collaborative practice perspective as a member of committees/working groups as appropriate.
Participates in performance reviews of staff as necessary, including evaluating clinical skills.
Actively participates in quality improvement/risk management program development by developing performance indicators and assessing outcome evaluation data to improve the quality of client care.
Actively participates in risk management and continuous quality improvement processes and activities.
Maintains organizational principles to enable staff to implement people-centred, wholistic care and strategic priorities.
Performs other related duties, as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education/Experience**:
Degree in nursing together with an unencumbered College of Nurses of Ontario license
Significant recent addictions and mental health clinical nursing experience
Experience assessing clinical skills and developing education strategies based on adult learning principles and acceptable educational theories that promote quality care
Knowledge of and/or experience with learning management systems
Knowledge of and/or experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
Strong knowledge of trauma informed and culturally safe care principles
Knowledgeable of and ability to interpret applicable acts and legislation; specifically, the Mental Health Act and its regulations

**Skills/Abilities**:
Expert skills and an advanced level of clinical competence in care of clients experiencing addiction and mental health concerns
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
Ability to clearly and concisely share information with others to enhance their working knowledge on items such as policies, programs, procedures and computer operations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with superiors, colleagues, students, SJCG employee, general public, external stakeholders
Ability to work independently, interdependently, and participate as a contributing member of a variety of teams within the workplace and ministries/agencies to meet program goals and objectives
Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
