Lumenus Community Services is seeking a **Health & Safety Coordinator**, to act as a champion of health, safety and wellness across the organization. The Health and Safety Coordinator will administer and advise the individual Joint Health and Safety Committees operating across all locations of Lumenus, contribute to emergency preparedness and response planning, as well as manage the leave, accommodation, and return to work programs.

**KE**Y RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Administer and coordinate the continuous improvement of the health and safety program to ensure compliance.
- Co-Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committees across the organization to provide expertise and facilitate partnerships with health and safety stakeholders, including facilities.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness and response planning including keeping informed on health and safety government announcements as well as legislative and regulatory changes relevant to the organization and healthcare sector.
- Maintain accurate, consistent, and timely health and safety records, information, and reports.
- Review, assess and draft health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain training of Lumenus staff to ensure compliance.
- Assist with creation and distribution of health and safety communications.
- Work with Human Resource Generalists to manage leaves, accommodations, and successful return to work programs.
- Assist in developing and executing comprehensive wellness programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- One to three years work experience in a health and safety compliance role
- One to three years work experience managing employee accommodation, leave, and return to work files.
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related field including: Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Disability Management, or Business Administration.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification (Part 1 and Part 2).
- Thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements impacting health and safety, employment standards, and employee wellness - including knowledge of best practices and trends influencing the healthcare sector.
- Excellent research skills identifying relevant requirements including those of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development as well as those under the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_, _Employment Standards Act _and the Ontario _Human Rights Code._
- Knowledge of public health preparedness and emergency management practices.
- Strong analytical, coordination and project management skills including the ability to prioritize changing and conflicting demands, meet deadlines, and stay productive under pressure.

**SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE**:

- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proactive team player who is able to work independently and collaborate successfully.
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
- Experience working in human resources in a healthcare environment is an asset.
- Experience working in an accredited non-profit organization is an asset.

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Travel to Lumenus locations across Toronto
- Scheduling flexibility required to meet workload demands
- Satisfactory background screening clearance.
