Health & Safety Consultant, Education and Culture Join to apply for the Health & Safety Consultant, Education and Culture role at Public Services Health & Safety Association. Overview Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Education, Culture and Applied Services, the Health and Safety Consultant, Education provides health and safety training, support, guidance, and advice to all workplace parties within the specific sector in the Province of Ontario. The position develops proactive initiatives and strategies to foster health, safety and wellbeing as a core business value among clients. Responsibilities Relationship Management Initiate, foster, maintain, and develop relationships with the sector (workers, employers, unions, key collaborators and associations). Regularly identify partnership opportunities and make appropriate connections. Develop and maintain collaborative working partnerships with colleagues, external clients and key system partners to advance PSHSA’s objectives, including MLITSD, WSIB, partner HSAs. Identify and develop consulting relationships with sector association and networking groups to advance knowledge and awareness of OHS/PSHSA and promote the benefits of implementing health and safety initiatives; provide best practice examples and incorporate health and safety programs into their existing processes. Client Engagement Proactively and reactively analyze customer needs and concerns by researching the client’s history through various mediums and apply health and safety expertise to support the improvement of the client’s current OHS program. Develop and coordinate training schedules to meet client needs. Promote the benefits of implementing health and safety initiatives; utilize internal consulting processes to support and direct clients with the development of customized health and safety programs. Prepare and present effective proposals as part of the sales/consulting presentation to sector clients to illustrate the benefits of using PSHSA products and services. Provide on-site and regional health and safety training and facilitation services to clients to increase workplace health and safety awareness. Seek opportunities for revenue generation through selling/up‑selling. Operational / Subject Matter Expertise Provide health and safety consulting services and/or liaise with other PSHSA consultants to assist clients with the reduction of workplace hazards and the elimination of injuries and illnesses. Identify and make arrangements for local course facilitators to increase reach and reduce travel and offer training in general health and safety awareness. Assist in the development, review, and implementation of PSHSA products, programs and services. Collaborate internally with Client Acquisition, Client Experience, Marketing, Product Development and other sector consultants to identify, develop, and deliver strategies to meet client needs. Translate and apply Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulation and best practices (e.g., CSA, ANSI) into practical application within the client environment. Proactively respond to client information requests promptly and accurately, serving as a resource for information and services; maintain records of all activities. Collaboratively research and stay abreast of common health and safety trends within the Education and Culture sectors. Strengths and Expertise A university degree or equivalent education and experience. Post‑secondary completion of a health and safety program. Designation(s) in health and safety or related disciplines (e.g., CRSP, CCPE, ROH) preferred. Minimum 5 years of related job experience. Knowledgeable in health and safety legislation, auditing, health and safety management systems. Experience in consulting, managing a client base, building relationships and achieving targets and objectives. Excellent facilitator, knowledgeable about adult learning principles and capable of delivering training sessions at all levels. Able to manage and prioritize a variety of projects simultaneously. Works well independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Customer Relationship Management systems. Proficiency in French is considered beneficial.
