Actual Title: Capital Assets - Advisor

The primary intent of this role is to independently take responsibility for varied assignments requiring a broad understanding of accounting principles and/or may also have specialized knowledge of one area, as well as knowledge of interrelated effects of the work upon other areas of the business.

Specific Accountabilities:

- Perform assigned routine and complex non-routine monthly tasks and assist others as needed
- Independently perform judgment-based, routine assignments with little to no supervision
- In-depth understanding of a broad range of accounting principles and/or specialized knowledge in one area
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems
- Review and process stakeholder requests, ask questions and collaborate with teammates to support our stakeholders
- Provide informal coaching and direction to Analysts
- Participate in projects or initiatives that impact the larger team and other departments
- Review and provide real time feedback on tasks performed by peers and analysts in the team
- Proactively monitor our systems, processes and our stakeholders to identify triggers that require our actions or stakeholder responses
- Provide periodic as well as ad hoc / ongoing training to stakeholders on our processes, policies and systems
- Reliable and accountable for job performance
- Completes assignments and produces high quality results in an accurate and timely manner
- Understands and is able to communicate the business reasons and/or the “why” behind assignments and conclusions reached
- Understands the interrelated effects of work on other areas or processes within other departments and the business
- Performs self-review to ensure balances agree to supporting documentation, schedules and formulas are mathematically accurate, variances are properly documented, and judgments are sound and properly supported
- Gain a solid understanding of the Capitalization Policy, Capital Classifications and knowledge of Intangibles, leases, capitalized interest, project allocations and Contributions In Aid of Construction (CIAC) requirements, as well as a broad understanding of accounting concepts impacting other departments to complete tasks and advise and guide stakeholders
- Maintains awareness of assigned tasks and responsibilities, ensuring that deadlines are met
- Values opinions of others and respects diversity. Provide mentoring to peers and analysts as warranted
- Establish relationships and communicate effectively with peers within the team and within other departments or external parties, as appropriate for assignments
- Work effectively with other team members to achieve goals
- Accountable for internal control activities. Understands the SOx controls impacting tasks and ensuring that controls are in place and being followed.
- Maintain a continuous improvement and continuous learning mindset and work with the people leader to proactively pursue system and process changes where warranted
- Review and verification of the work of Analysts/Senior Analysts, including clearly explaining review notes to recipient
- Training/cross-training of Analysts/Senior Analysts
- Proactively keeps team lead/senior advisor informed of significant issues encountered and work plan status
- Exercise professional skepticism in methodology and purpose of assignments as well as in analysis performed during assignments (Why are we doing this? Who are the stakeholders? What are we trying to achieve? Are we using the best processes available?)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:

- Related University Degree and/or professional designation
- A minimum of 6 years of directly related experience
- CPA or working towards a designation preferred but not required
- Maintain a sound understanding of Enbridge’s legal entity, Line of Business (LOB) and Operating Unit (OU) structure
- Maintain a working knowledge of Regulatory and Tax requirements that are supported by our systems and processes
- Gain an adequate understanding of various commercial agreements that have an impact on capital
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong orientation to customer service
- Ability to balance the big picture issues with the detail
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and organized manner based on the targeted level within the company.
