**Job Summary**
**A Brief Overview**
Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations, the Systems Specialist will provide uninterrupted operations support to local and remote video conference classrooms. A high level of interpersonal skills, technical abilities, focus and high attention to detail in a high-stress and multitasking environment is critical to sustain the department's reputation for providing high quality service. The Systems Specialist will possess strong technical knowledge and skill in order to support clients at the Smith School of Business, maintain existing equipment and services, and perform regular system testing to ensure continued reliability. This position also contributes to the overall planning and development of future videoconferencing capabilities.
In depth knowledge or experience with multi point video bridging technology, networks, and studio production, including video and audio systems is preferred.
**What you will do**
Researches and recommends enhancements to multimedia educational systems including budgets associated with adoption.Provides ongoing training to other multimedia development staff on the available technologies and their use.Recommends, evaluates, and leads implementation streaming of infrastructure upgrades.Organizes the development, production schedule, workflow, and implementation of online education technologies, including audio, video, and graphic materials.Performs real-time problem resolution during broadcasts.Trains faculty and staff in the use of multimedia and educational technology tools.
- Directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
**Required Education**
- Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
**Required Experience**
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Job Knowledge and Requirements**
- Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or significant work experience.
- Provide expert advice, guidance and consultation on highly complex issues and/or the where outcome may be contentious.
- Interaction with others requires highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively persuade, negotiate, counsel, and/or consult.
- Adapt messages to meet the different needs of different audiences.
- Manage own work, train and review the work of the team to see commitments through to completion.
- Set work priorities and direction, supporting the unit and department in achieving goals and objectives.
- Identify in advance when the intended results may not be achieved and develops a plan to address the gaps.
- Lead team and project meetings and develop team/unit and departmental project plans.
- Lead procedural or technological change within a unit or across broader university functions.
- Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes.
- Anticipate complex challenges to ensure activities are completed on time.
- Effectively leverage relevant data as input to making decisions.
- Appropriately assess risks before making a decision.
- Comprehensive understanding of what sexual violence, harassment and discrimination are, and their varying effects on diverse members of the community.
- Question and take appropriate steps to address attitudes, macroaggressions and other behaviours which are discriminatory. Acknowledges and respects diverse cultural traditions, abilities and beliefs.
- Evaluate employee performance and decide on appropriate training, coaching and development plans to assist employees in reaching career goals.
