Come work with us Job Summary **A Brief Overview** This position will be required to participate in an on-call rotation. Occasional travel to SmithToronto will also be required. **Job Description**: " - **What you will do** - Validates that various system components accomplish defined functions and meet requirements. - Researches, documents, and promotes understanding of new business requirements and proposed technological solutions. - Troubleshoots and solves complex implementation and operational problems. - Identifies and oversees priority development opportunities, coordinates and executes system enhancement testing, and monitors status. - Identifies enhancements to existing systems, defines problem areas, develops viable solutions, and determines cost benefits of recommended solutions. - Oversees systems security protocols. - Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. **Required Education** - Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. **Required Experience** - More than 5 years of experience. - Experience in database administration/management, design and/or technologies considered an asset (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle/DB2, relational databases, warehoused databases, etc.). - Experience in cloud computing environment considered an asset (e.g., Platform-as-a-service (PAAS), Infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS), Software-as-a-service (SAAS), etc.). - Experience in general IT infrastructure with a focus on installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems software and hardware considered an asset. - Experience in information systems security and management tools considered an asset (e.g., Endpoint Protection Management Tools, etc.). - Experience in SCCM Microsoft Intune and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure considered an asset (i.e., Azure). - Experience in risk management practices considered an asset (e.g., conducting risk assessments, Financial Risk, Insurance Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Project Risk, Market Risk, Technology Risk including information Security and/or Cybersecurity, etc.). - Experience with operating systems technologies considered an asset (e.g., Linux OS, Windows OS, AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units, VMware, VM backups tools, etc.). - Experience with software protocols considered an asset (e.g., Active Directory, Domain Controller Administration, LDAP, Shibboleth, etc.). - Experience with desktop and server operating systems considered an asset. - Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset. - Experience with scripting languages considered an asset (e.g., HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, maxscript, mel, etc.). **Required Licenses and Certifications** - A related IT administrator/developer/architect certification is considered an asset. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. **Job Knowledge and Requirements** - Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or significant work experience. - Provide expert advice, guidance and consultation on highly complex issues and/or where the outcome may be contentious. - Interaction with others requires highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively persuade, negotiate, counsel, and/or consult. - Adapt messages to meet the different needs of different audiences. - Prioritize and distribute work to deliver objectives on time and to the highest standard. - Identify in advance when the intended results may not be achieved and develops a plan to address the gaps. - Lead team and project meetings and develop team/unit and departmental project plans. - Lead procedural or technological change within a unit or across broader university functions. - Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes. - Anticipate complex challenges to ensure activities are completed on time. - Effectively leverage relevant data as input to making decisions. - Appropriately assess risks before making a decision. - Comprehensive understanding of what sexual violence, harassment and discrimination are, and their varying effects on diverse members of the community. - Question and take appropriate steps to address attitudes, macroaggressions and other behaviours which are discriminatory.
