Come work with us Job Summary A Brief Overview This position will be required to participate in an on-call rotation. Occasional travel to SmithToronto will also be required. **Job Description**: " What you will do Validates that various system components accomplish defined functions and meet requirements. Researches, documents, and promotes understanding of new business requirements and proposed technological solutions. Troubleshoots and solves complex implementation and operational problems. Identifies and oversees priority development opportunities, coordinates and executes system enhancement testing, and monitors status. Identifies enhancements to existing systems, defines problem areas, develops viable solutions, and determines cost benefits of recommended solutions. Oversees systems security protocols. Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. Required Experience More than 5 years of experience. Experience in database administration/management, design and/or technologies considered an asset (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle/DB2, relational databases, warehoused databases, etc.). Experience in cloud computing environment considered an asset (e.g., Platform-as-a-service (PAAS), Infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS), Software-as-a-service (SAAS), etc.). Experience in general IT infrastructure with a focus on installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems software and hardware considered an asset. Experience in information systems security and management tools considered an asset (e.g., Endpoint Protection Management Tools, etc.). Experience in SCCM Microsoft Intune and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure considered an asset (i.e., Azure). Experience in risk management practices considered an asset (e.g., conducting risk assessments, Financial Risk, Insurance Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Project Risk, Market Risk, Technology Risk including information Security and/or Cybersecurity, etc.). Experience with operating systems technologies considered an asset (e.g., Linux OS, Windows OS, AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units, VMware, VM backups tools, etc.). Experience with software protocols considered an asset (e.g., Active Directory, Domain Controller Administration, LDAP, Shibboleth, etc.). Experience with desktop and server operating systems considered an asset. Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset. Experience with scripting languages considered an asset (e.g., HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, maxscript, mel, etc.). Required Licenses and Certifications A related IT administrator/developer/architect certification is considered an asset. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. Job Knowledge and Requirements Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or significant work experience. Provide expert advice, guidance and consultation on highly complex issues and/or where the outcome may be contentious. Interaction with others requires highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively persuade, negotiate, counsel, and/or consult. Adapt messages to meet the different needs of different audiences. Prioritize and distribute work to deliver objectives on time and to the highest standard. Identify in advance when the intended results may not be achieved and develops a plan to address the gaps. Lead team and project meetings and develop team/unit and departmental project plans. Lead procedural or technological change within a unit or across broader university functions. Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes. Anticipate complex challenges to ensure activities are completed on time. Effectively leverage relevant data as input to making decisions. Appropriately assess risks before making a decision. Comprehensive understanding of what sexual violence, harassment and discrimination are, and their varying effects on diverse members of the community. Question and take appropriate steps to address attitudes, macroaggressions and other behaviours which are discriminatory. Acknowledges and respects diverse cultural traditions, abilities and beliefs.
