- As Operations Coordinator, you will ensure that Waste and Recycling Services (WRS) aligns vehicle and equipment requirements with operational needs to support effective and efficient delivery of Collection Services and Disposal and Processing Services. You will support enabling contracts, transition planning and processes, financial tracking and rate development, and internal processes, tracking, and communication related to vehicle and equipment (V&E) use. You will also measure and report on performance indicators and participate in strategic planning. Primary duties include:
- Coordinate with WRS internal divisions, Fleet & Inventory training section, and external vendors to ensure WRS training requirements are met.
- Collaborate within and outside of WRS to plan, acquire and relinquish vehicles and equipment, ensuring appropriate distribution.
- Support evaluations and provide recommendations on V&E alterations and modifications, ownership and rental options, maintenance and fuel strategies, and infrastructure support needs.
- Engage with WRS contacts to consolidate feedback on strategic issues and operational challenges, and to make informed decisions about relinquishment of vehicles.
- Track operational assets and vehicle availability and administer decision and asset records, including trends, issues, budget spending, and implementation of business plans.
- Track and escalate issues to highlight service gaps, identify process failures and implement agreed solutions.
- Participate in work related to facility planning, technology management, and Business Continuity and Emergency Management.
- Support cost forecasting, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and evaluating vendor performance.
**Qualifications**
- A completed certificate in Business Administration and at least 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, contract management, or a related field; OR
- A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration and at least 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance, contract management, or a related field.
- Must be able to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
- Experience using PowerBI, Microsoft Word, and Excel will be considered an asset.
- Experience providing or coordinating training courses will also be considered an asset.
- Success in this position required strong communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills, along with analytical and strategic thinking.
**Working Conditions**:Office environment with frequent visits to heavy-duty repair facilities, organics facilities, and landfills.
