**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you driven by public safety and confident in making informed, high-impact decisions? As a Compliance Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring commercial carriers meet the safety standards that keep Alberta’s highways secure. This is a dynamic, solutions-focused position for someone ready to interpret policy, manage complex files, and support continuous improvement across a province-wide compliance program.
As a Compliance Coordinator, you’ll lead the administration of Alberta’s Carrier Compliance Program—monitoring and enforcing both federal and provincial safety standards for approximately 18,000 carriers. You’ll coordinate multiple regulatory functions, manage compliance interventions, assess risk, and work directly with commercial carriers and Third-Party Auditors. Your work will influence safety outcomes on Alberta’s roads, support fairness for commercial operators, and shape program direction through collaboration and informed decision-making.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Administering and updating carrier profiles, issuing penalties, and ensuring compliance with safety legislation.
- Responding to public, industry, and auditor inquiries with clear, policy-aligned guidance.
- Developing reports, correspondence, and program communications, including monthly newsletters.
- Monitoring high-risk carriers, identifying compliance gaps, and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
- Supporting policy updates, system enhancements, and quality control across program processes.
- Evaluating carrier eligibility for Alberta’s Excellent Rating Program and monitoring ongoing compliance.

**Required**:
- 2-year diploma in Public Administration or in a compliance field of study, PLUS 3 years related experience or equivalent as described
**Equivalency**:
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
For Example:
- Related 4-year degree and 1 year experience
- Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 4 years of experience
- Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 3 years of experience
- Thorough knowledge of the Compliance Program to administer multi-faceted program operations and provide program information to multiple stakeholders; this includes relevant legislation, policy, standards and program operations processes.
- Ability to research, analyze, coordinate, and prioritize tasks and address a high volume of complex and often sensitive issues.
- Well-developed decision-making skills.
- Ability to integrate multiple pieces of information to assess and formulate a decision.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Able to maintain JOIN, MOVES, MOTRIS, ROADS security access. (e.g., ROADS/MOTRIS/TRAVIS/CORES).
- Prepare information/reports/correspondence (using Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
