**Position**
The Academic Staff Compliance Specialist (ASCS) role is designed to assist the Divisional Directors with recruitment strategies and activities to support the workload demands and develop Workforce Planning reporting as required to support ongoing clinical and academic needs of the divisions and Department of Medicine (DOM). This role will work collaboratively with the Chair, Academic Department Manager of the DOM, the FOMD Administrative Services Team. The Human Resources Partner (HRP) will provide guidance in areas related to interpretations of the collective agreement and management of issues that impact the agreement with the University.
The ASCS is a member of DOM reporting to the Academic Department Manager and working very closely with the Department Chair. The ASCS is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day human resource activities for academic faculty members related to workforce planning, recruitment onboarding, compensation, practices and policies, payroll processes, benefits, leaves and separations. The ASCS provides advice and assistance to the Division Directors with Workforce planning and recruitment strategies for Academic and Clinical workload of Academic Staff. This role supports the 14 divisions of the DOM and works to develop strategies that support the ongoing operations of the divisions. This role is also responsible for the development of efficient recruitment and selection practices within the Department aligning with FOMD and University of Alberta, as well as Alberta Health Services.
**Duties**
- Responsible for all HR activities related to the support of all academic faculty positions, including academic and clinical Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP) members, Fee-for-service physicians, basic scientists, visiting professors, and self-funded researchers.
- In conjunction with the DD and AHS will develop the Initial Recruitment proposal and Impact Analysis Position for AMHSP recruitment; will provide and outline the specific responsibilities for the physicians that the DoM is recruiting.
- Collaborate with AHS Coordinator on FFS physician recruitment to ensure copies are received and captured in the DOM Workforce.
- Facilitates the approvals for the Academic recruitments through the Faculty SharePoint site.
- Develops/conducts the recruitment process for all new vacancies; this includes:
- Initiating recruitment requisition and development of the job posting (internal/external).
- Implement job posting forms and advertisements through Staff Shared Services.
