Volunteer and Learner Coordinator

Volunteers are the core of PALS and are vital to the success of our mission - Changing Lives through Literacy. Our volunteers are diverse, caring, creative, dynamic adults who contribute their time, skills, and ideas to support an adult learner to achieve their literacy learning goals.
The primary responsibility of the Volunteer and Learner Coordinator is to coordinate volunteers and provide support to provide the most satisfying experience for both volunteers and learners. The second responsibility is to raise public awareness in the community regarding the benefits of adult literacy.
**ROLE: Volunteer Coordinator** **(One full-time)**
- You have a post-secondary diploma or a certificate in Voluntary Sector Management or adult training enhanced by a relevant degree in Education or Human services
- You have experience working with volunteers
- You are a team player and have a positive attitude
- You are experienced and passionate about working with adults from diverse backgrounds
- You are skilled at program management and know what it means to be accountable to outcomes-based planning and delivery
- You have excellent digital skills with emphasis on Microsoft office - Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and social media
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Recruit, screen, orientate and evaluate volunteers
- Train volunteer tutors for success to meet the needs of the learners
- Provide support to the volunteer and be a resource person for volunteers
- Encourage learners and volunteers to engage with the organization and team
- Be knowledgeable of all materials available to tutors and learners
- Coordinate volunteers for the roles with PALS
- Support adult learners to become empowered and develop their literacy and learning skills
- Ensure continuity of the program by developing management competencies and utilizing the specialized talents volunteers, and learners
- Facilitate communication with Literacy, LELL, Math Literacy and Digital Literacy coordinators to ensure that the needs of the learners are met, and the quality of the volunteers is to the standard of the programs
- Participate in the development of the communications plan, assist with creation of content for web and social media, and implement, evaluate, and integrate campaigns for volunteer recruitment and community awareness
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:
