**The Team**:Group Care

**The Role**: Youth Worker (Full-time)

Youth Workers provide care to youth who have status with the Ministry of Children’s Services. Each group home provides a therapeutic and culturally inclusive home-like atmosphere, creating a safe and holistic environment guided by trauma informed practice.
- This is a full-time position that works on a rotation basis. To be considered for this role, you must be available to work mornings, evenings, and some weekends._

**What You’ll Bring to The Role**:

- A degree or diploma in Human Services field (Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Justice Studies, etc.) or currently enrolled. Equivalencies will be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with computer literacy
- Strong relationship building skills and a good understanding of working with vulnerable youth with challenging behaviours
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to work with a team and independently
- Commitment to continual professional and personal development
- Valid driver’s license, current Driver’s Abstract, and reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (a requirement prior to commencement)

**Tasks & Responsibilities**:

- Develop and follow strategies and individual treatment plans that support youth’s growth and development
- Follow program expectations and adhere to industry standards and best practices including working from a trauma-informed care, grief and loss, attachment lens, and harm reduction approach
- Make intentional efforts towards creating a stable and consistent home-like environment (i.e. - modelling meal preparation or general housework)
- Managing crisis situations effectively using problem solving and de-escalation skills
- Case management responsibilities as outlined by the Program Manager, including facilitating and supporting youths’ connections with their Natural Supports
- Model respectful and appropriate relationships and professional boundaries with youth and staff team
- Work collaboratively with all staff teams, reporting to the Program Supervisor and Program Manager
- Daily documentation and formal report writing as required
- Complete any additional tasks as they are assigned

**Reporting Relationship**:
This position directly reports to the Group Care Program Manager
