**Overview**:
A day in the life of a Safeway PIC:
As a customer yourself, you know how important it is that service is accurate, friendly and efficient. The impression shoppers get in our stores is key to building customer loyalty. That is part of the reason why PIC'S providing excellent customer service and answering questions from customers and staff alike play such an important role in the success of our stores.
- As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Person In Charge (PIC) provides friendly, courteous and helpful service. During the absence of the Store Manager and the First & Second Assistant Managers the PIC is in charge of the store. When the PIC is in charge of the store (generally at night) The PIC will supervise all store employees, as well as complete tasks that are given to them by the managers.
- The PIC also acts as a Cashier-Checker when required.
- The PIC answers the phone and pages when required.
- Responsible for handling emergencies, customer complaints, employee or customer accidents according to Safeway guidelines and policies.
- Performs complete store walks, delegate tasks and follows through to ensure completion.
- Monitors in-stock conditions and replaces product as needed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
- Assists cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
- Receive warehouse orders.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent: (Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant: 66-100% of shift)
- Frequent lifting of up to 10-30 pounds
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs including waist level and low-level lifts
- Constant walking, reaching and balancing
- Frequent hand coordination, standing, bending, pushing or pulling
- Occasionally working outside in variable conditions

**Required Experience**:

- **Previous supervisor/manager experience required.**:

- Previous grocery store experience considered an asset.
