The principle function of this role is to provide direct care and supervision to patients and their families in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program within the framework of a treatment plan formulated by a multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for individuals who are interested in providing behavioural management within an effective environment.

**Qualifications include**:

- Youth Counsellor Diploma.
- Membership in good standing in OACYC preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents and their families, together with knowledge of psychiatric disorders.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mental health services including case management and crisis management for children and adolescents preferred.
- Work experience in a hospital setting within the inpatient unit, outpatient program or the emergency room is considered an asset.
- Experience in developing, organizing and facilitating psycho-educational groups.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions affecting patient care.
- Ability to take initiative and leadership, as appropriate.
- Practice in a manner consistent with the philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
- Remain abreast of current literature and changing practice patterns.
- Ability to work effectively and co-operatively with a variety of professionals and patients.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Assumes responsibility for aspects of practice including issues related to productivity and utilization.
- Satisfactory attendance record.
