**Child & Youth Worker**

**10 month contract (Sept - June)**

**About The Agency**

Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society. We support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, and education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

**About the Role**

The Jerome D. Diamond (JDD) Adolescent Centre, a branch of Jewish Family and Child Service is looking for a
**Child & Youth Workers (CYW) **to assist in providing direct services, within an effective treatment program, to adolescents during the school year. The JDD Adolescent Centre is a children’s mental health centre that provides support to youth with educational, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.

**Responsibilities***:

- Provide direct treatment (care, coaching and counselling) and relevant programming services to youth on a daily basis in conjunction with the JDD team
- Develop, implement, review and monitor the treatment plans for the youth in conjunction with the team and family.
- Support and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they have access to services within the Agency and in the community.
- Plan and participate in activity/recreation based programing and physical education such as yoga, art therapy, cooking, CBT etc.
- Supervise and assists students during non-academic instructional time, e.g., recess, lunch, bus loading/unloading, therapeutic recreation, etc.
- Ensure the physical facilities of the program are maintained in accordance with the accepted agency standards and the norms of health and safety.
- Assists with special events (religious observances, Graduation, celebrations, etc.) as they come up.
- Maintain accurate and timely client related documentation for internal and external record keeping in accordance with professional standards, the Agency and Day Treatment Policy
- _ Liaise, communicate and coordinate a collaborative working relationship with internal and external professionals_
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications***:

- CYW or equivalent post-secondary diploma/degree
- CYW experience in a Day Treatment Program would be considered an asset
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills and within with Microsoft Office Package (Outlook, Excel and Word), databases, and client databases.
- Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset
