Field Technician

**Overview**

**MANDAT/JOB OBJECTIVE**:The job consists of installing and commissioning monitoring systems throughout construction sites.

**IMMEDIATE LEADER**: Field Service Manager

**Responsibilities**

**Execution of mandates and missions | 70 %**
- Prepare the execution of missions with the team by assessing:

- Health, safety and environmental challenges.
- Clients’ expectations.
- The required knowledge.
- The material needs.
- Logistical and cost constraints.
- Execute the mandate on-site:

- The installation of sensors and/or monitoring systems.
- The programming of the systems.
- The configuration of the communication.
- The compilation of all information for interpretation.
- Verification of commissioning and proper use.
- Transfer of information and training to clients.
- Technical documentation (photos, instrument database).
- Administrative documentation (field time sheets and shipping orders).
- Conclude the execution of the mandates by ensuring to:

- Respect the inventory procedures.
- Keep the tools in good condition.
- Keep vehicles we provide in good conditions.
- Store the equipment in respective place.

**20 %**
- Save in each client's file all the information collected on-site:

- Sensor details.
- Details of the configurations.
- Photos.
- Time sheets.
- Write field reports.
- Complete time sheets and expense accounts.
- Add any new contact in the GKM customer list.

**Pre and post-mandate technical support** |
**10 %**
- Provide technical support to the sales team on:

- The suggestion of appropriate equipment.
- The design of monitoring systems
- The evaluation of time and material needs.
- Provide technical support to clients, search for solutions and diagnostic:

- Conduct necessary tests. Provide feedback to the engineering team.

**EXPECTED RESULTS**:

- Methods, plans and control mechanisms are applied according to expected standards.
- The employee works in a safe way and uses the tools and protective equipment appropriately.
- Faced with the unexpected, the employee's reaction is quick, positive and his adaptability to new situations is optimal.
- Data gathering, document analysis, verification of the accuracy of the information are done according to the expected standards.
- The search for the right information and its interpretation in order to do the job successfully according to the expected standards.
- The drafting of simple documents with varied information is optimal and according to the expected standards.
- The employee is mobile, able to work, perform in cold, wet, hot conditions or prolonged periods of time, without the possibility of moving or at a height (sitting, standing, squatting).
- Customer focus is at the forefront and customer service is of high quality.
- Deadlines are respected.
- The work is done with rigor and accuracy.
- Names of new customer contacts are added on a regular basis.

**Qualifications**

**Required education**:

- College diploma in civil engineering or geology.
- ASP Certification (for Quebec job)**.**

**Required knowledge and experience**:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Experience in instrumentation, automatization & telecommunications.
- Specific knowledge in the field of geotechnical instrumentation.
- Geotechnical drilling supervision and logging experience.
- Basic knowledge of electricity and programming.
- Basic knowledge in RS232/485/SDi-12/Wi-Fi/Radio.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Fluency in French, both written and spoken (for Quebec job) and in English (for the other provinces’ job).
- Good knowledge in English (for Quebec job).
