**Location**: Halifax, NS

**Rate of Pay**:$14.00/ hour

**Job Type**:Full-time, Permanent

**Hours**: minimum 30 hours per week with varying schedule during all restaurant operating hours 7 days/week.

**Education**: Completion of Grade 12

**Language**:English

**Experience**: 1 year to less than 2 years’ experience in related customer service position required

Smitty’s Family Restaurant is looking for **1 (One)** Host/Hostess to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests. Ultimately you should have solid organizational and customer care/people skills to ensure our guests have a positive dining experience with excellent customer service from the moment they arrive till their departure.

**Duties and Responsibilities include**:

- Provide top-notch guest service in a fast-paced environment following Covid-19 procedures.
- Welcome guests to the venue
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
- Manage reservations; answer incoming calls and address guests’ queries
- Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
- Escort guests to assigned dining areas
- Provide menus and announce Waiter/Waitress’s name
- Ensure all food and beverage orders are taken properly
- Ensure that guests’ needs are attended to throughout the meal
- Assist wait staff as needed to ensure optimum guest satisfaction and service is provided
- Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction and attend to complaints
- Handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Greet customers upon their departure
- Maintain a clean reception area
- Complete daily cash report and cash security

**Requirements**:

- A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure in a team environment
- Demonstrable customer-service skills
- Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining area
- Able to work independently
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Able to safely lift and easily maneuver chairs, tables, trays of food when necessary.
- Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, busy restaurant environment.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations for the food industry
- Prior experience in a similar restaurant setting is an asset.
