About Us
Position Overview: Program Coordinator (Part-Time)
Reporting to the President, the Program Coordinator plays a key role in meal planning, food preparation, volunteer coordination and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan nutritious menus aligned with Canada’s Food Guide and CHB best practices
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for children
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment
- Shop for groceries and supplies as needed
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and cultural food needs
- Ensure compliance with health and food safety standards
- Recruit, schedule, and manage kitchen volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer events and support community awareness initiatives
- Deliver meals to nine (9) local schools during the school year and directly to homes in the summer months.
- Plan and implement community and fundraising events
- Create awareness and partnerships within the community
- Create and implement marketing initiatives utilizing social media platforms
- Mentor student placements and support their learning goals
- Assist the summer student with maintaining the community gardens taking the lead as needed
- Organize/Host family engagement events and activities
- Manage procurement and pickup of food donations
- Support the President and Board of Directors as needed
- Handle basic bookkeeping tasks (e.g., using QuickBooks)
- Attend and participate in quarterly Board Meetings and various Committee Meetings
**Qualifications**:
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation or a related role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening
- First Aid & CPR-C certification (an asset)
- Able to perform heavy lifting
- The ability to be discreet in sensitive situations
- Administrative experience; QuickBooks proficiency is an asset
- MUST be fluent in English
