Reporting to the Manager of Housing Programs, the Housing Programs Coordinator will be familiar with all current Housing programs, their administration and relevant legislation. This includes administration of and/or determining eligibility for the Service Managers Centralized Waiting List, the Province Wide Arrears Database, Rent Supplement Program, Affordable Home Ownership, Ontario Renovates, and Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit.

The Housing Programs Coordinator plays a key role in identifying and making recommendations to applicant households on housing programs that would best support their needs. This position will be responsible for navigating and liaising with applicants to determine eligibility for various programs and will assist individuals requiring housing program support to confirm eligibility and submission of required documents for the program that best suits their needs. They will provide system navigation, referrals and information to applicants and housing providers to ensure housing benefits are maximized. The Housing Programs Coordinator also works closely with private landlords and is responsible for administering the City’s Rent Supplement Program as well as the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit Program. The Housing Programs works closely with Housing Providers within the Service Manager area to provide education, support, and to ensure compliance with Local Rules.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma in Social Services Worker, Business Administration, Community and Social Services Management, or related discipline
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in a social housing environment with a detailed knowledge of community housing portfolios, operations and various forms of income and rent calculation procedures
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on strong oral and written communication
- Extensive knowledge of various legislation relevant to social service delivery including the Housing Services Act, 2011, Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, Ontario Works Act, 1997, and Ontario Disability Support Program Act, 1997
- Working knowledge of other relevant legislation including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 1990
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal benefit programs such as Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, Old Age Security, and Guaranteed Income Supplement
- Experience in determining and managing eligibility for the Service Manager s Centralized Waitlist in accordance with the Housing Services Act, 2011 and Service Manager Local Rules is required
- Computer proficiency and demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with the Integrated Housing System (IHS) and YARDI an asset
- Detailed knowledge of local non-profit and coop Housing Providers as well as local social service agencies is required
- Experience in completing Operational Service Reviews is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to uphold and protect confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, provide advocacy when necessary, and have strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Ability to support and sensitivity towards people experiencing stressful and sensitive situations (i.e. evictions, homelessness)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is required in this position with the ability to prepare accurate reports, input data, and issue appropriate correspondence in a timely manner
- Ability to work well with others, having accountability to applicants, community partners, housing providers, managers, and colleagues
- Ability to multi task, manage interruptions and any crises that may arise
- Ability to respond to complaints and make sound decisions

**WAGE/SALARY RANGE**:$35.01 to $37.26 per hour (35 hours per week) plus benefits.
