We are looking for a senior leader to join us as the **Financial Controller **at our Head Office in North Vancouver, BC, including hybrid flexibility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this full-time position oversees the full-cycle accounting management including reporting, process and procedure implementation and supports the company to remain in full compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements. The role will include financial administration, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, financial statement preparation and working with external auditors. The Controller will manage and develop the accounting team by providing energetic leadership, expert technical knowledge, and thoughtful strategic planning while navigating a busy and fast-paced environment.
**This role will be a fit for you if you have**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
- CPA designation mandatory
- Minimum 7 years hands on accounting experience
- At least 3 years in a direct supervisory role
- Minimum 2 years hands-on and/or supervisory experience using Quickbooks software.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards,
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check
- Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to create and analyze complex Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to create and analyze Quickbooks reports
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams
- High degree of business ethics and accountability
- Discretion in handling confidential matters
**A sample of what you’ll be doing**:
- Provide direct supervision of the staff in the Accounting department, including constructive performance evaluations
- Responsible for the entire monthly accounting cycle, including: Review of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and bank reconciliations, Reporting and GST filings, review of monthly general ledger and journal entries and Preparation of monthly financial statements
- Oversee Payroll Administration in coordination with Human Resources
- Maintain year-end working papers, spreadsheets, and assisting with audit preparation.
- Regular monitoring of inputs and outputs affecting both cash inflow and outflows.
- Monitor daily bank balances for deposits and payments, preparing cash forecasts that consider operating, financing and investing impacts on cash.
- Work with external auditors to ensure that year-end financial reviews are completed in a manner as required by the regulatory bodies.
- Work with senior leadership to develop and monitor additional internal control systems, as required.
- Review of existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvements that promote effective and efficient work flows.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
- Assist with real estate acquisitions
- Oversee preparation of program operations financial reports as required
- Oversee preparation of quarterly consolidated financial reports for the bank
- Organize and reconcile inter-company transactions
