**Mental Health Worker**

TNO - The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) is a well-established community-based social and health service agency providing a wide range of programs and services supporting low-income and newcomer communities across Ontario and sometimes across different provinces through online services and referrals. We are seeking a **Mental Health Worker** to join our team in a **full-time contract** role from **February 3, 2025**, to **February 2, 2026**.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide short-term, empowerment-oriented counseling to newcomers, utilizing anti-oppressive framework principles.
- Conduct mental health assessments and deliver evidence-based crisis intervention to individuals experiencing emotional distress.
- Identify and address barriers affecting newcomers' access to mental health services, assisting them in developing and implementing effective crisis management strategies.
- Collaborate with families and cross-sector service providers to create individualized, trauma-informed, and strengths-based service plans for recovery, integration, crisis intervention, and referrals.
- Coordinate case management efforts by connecting clients to necessary additional supports and services.
- Refer clients to long-term community support systems and specialized mental health services when appropriate.
- Organize and facilitate group activities, support groups, and orientation sessions focused on mental health-related topics.
- Conduct community outreach to increase awareness of available services and promote understanding of mental health in newcomer communities.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and partner organizations to ensure effective delivery of mental health support in the community.
- Accurately complete administrative tasks, including data system updates, service statistics, and detailed reporting on program activities.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively engage in community development initiatives, including advocacy, outreach, and community empowerment efforts.
- Participate in and support local community events to strengthen connections and promote services.

**Screening** - As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

**Job Type**: Full-time contract position from February 3, 2025, to February 2, 2026

**Travel Requirements: Access to a vehicle is an asset as travel is required between locations.**

**Work Location(s)**: TNO Locations and other Itinerant sites (Schools)

**Schedule**: 35 hours/week 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - some evenings and weekends may be required
