The Brick Street Bakery commissary kitchen in Richmond Hill is looking for an experienced Pastry Chef. We are a small team of passionate bakers who supply multiple open locations with fresh, scratch baked sweet and savoury pastries. The available position is a full-time, Monday to Friday, contract position with the potential to remain on. No weekends or holidays required. Ideally located on a major yrt route.
**Duties Include**_(but are not limited to)_:
- Accurately following recipes according to company procedure to avoid waste and unnecessary expense
- Mixing and baking various cookies, quick breads, scones, yeast doughs, and laminated pastry
- Making, decorating and finishing tarts, bars, loaves, and specialty items
- Opportunity to assist with recipe development and testing
- Weekly ordering of ingredients, maintaining ingredient inventory
- Use and maintenance of bakery equipment and machinery
- Compliance with health, sanitary, and personal hygiene standards
**Requirements**:
- A positive attitude and passion for baking
- Good knowledge of pastry methods and production
- Minimum 1 year experience in a baking position.
- Comfortable working alone with mínimal supervision
- Have excellent time management and be self-motivated
- Strong communication skills
- Food handler certification
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting, as well as have the ability to regularly lift bags of flour
Wages are competitive and based on experience.
Full-time, work day shift position available immediately.
