**DIRECTOR OF SERVICES**
**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:
The Director of Services at Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services (AAFS) is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the Prevention Department and managing the agency's service delivery with a focus on culturally sensitive, legally compliant, and effective support for First Nation children, youth, families, and communities. This role involves managing employees who are responsible for various operational functions, general administration, and community engagement. The Director of Services works closely with the Executive Director, Senior Management, and community stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of service and compliance with relevant legislation, including Bill C-92.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- ** Service Delivery and Compliance**:
- Ensure that all services provided by AAFS align with relevant legislation, including Bill C-92 and the Child, Youth, and Family Services Act (CYFSA).
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure that policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of service delivery to ensure compliance and collaborate with First Nations Representatives on these efforts.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework, guiding all aspects of service provision in the Prevention Department.
- ** Prevention Program Oversight**:
- Supervise and oversee the Prevention Department to ensure adherence to AAFS policies and guidelines.
- Provide direction, support, and guidance to staff, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
- Participate in case conferences and assist Resource Managers in planning and decision-making processes.
- Conduct performance evaluations of staff, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, selection, promotion, and discipline of program staff.
**3. Community Engagement and Relationship Building**:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with First Nation communities, Chiefs, Councils, and stakeholders.
- Represent AAFS in community events, meetings, and forums, advocating for culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration to address community needs and concerns.
**4. Policy Development and Quality Assurance**:
- Develop, review, and update service policies and procedures to align with current legislation and best practices.
- Implement a Quality Assurance process to monitor service effectiveness and client satisfaction.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and integrate new policies into the service delivery models.
**5. Reporting and Accountability**:
- Prepare and present regular reports to the Executive Director on service quality, compliance, and program effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure transparency with the Board of Directors regarding service delivery.
**6. Professional Development and Risk Management**:
- Participate in training, seminars, and workshops to stay current on trends and best practices in service delivery and quality assurance.
- Develop risk management plans to ensure service continuity and client safety, and ensure staff are trained for crisis management.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a First Nations organization or community-based setting.
- Sound knowledge of Bill C-92 regulations and requirements.
- Fluency in the Ojibway language, with a strong understanding of Anishinaabe culture and traditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on results.
- Demonstrated experience in administration, and community engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence and be willing to travel.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
The work is primarily performed in an office environment at AAFS headquarters, with occasional travel to First Nation communities. The position requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate community engagements and compliance activities. The Director must be prepared to manage political, mental, and social stress related to complex service delivery issues.
