Overview:
**Term: 1 Year**

The Coordinator, Global Learning Programs is responsible for provision of high-quality coordination and support and service for the Global Learning team in the Student Success Office. This role will spend an anticipated 60% of time providing coordinator level support for the Global Experience Certificate and other intercultural competency development programming and 40% of time providing coordinator level support for exchange programming and other mobility programming.

**Responsibilities**:
Program Coordination
Provides coordinator support for all portfolios of the international student exchange and international mobility portfolio including:

- Service as an initial central coordinating contact with students who are considering or who are participating in student exchange programs as well as campus partners involved in international student exchange mobility, providing exceptional customer service as well as timely and accurate information.
- Working collaboratively with representatives in each faculty, other departments across campus and teams within the SSO for the ongoing success and improvement of processes surrounding student mobility opportunities.
- This role is not responsible for negotiation or sensitive communication with international partners.
Contribution to annual or biannual reporting (provision of statistical and other information) related to mobility and Global Learning programming endeavors.
Supports the creation of administrative processes for and coordination of in-progress and completed intercultural competency development programming

Student Success and Student Support
- Employs superior intercultural skills in providing timely response to student queries about the range of Global Learning team programming, providing exceptional customer service and accurate information
- Designs, updates, and delivers mandatory information sessions multiple times a week to students interested in participating in an exchange
- Supports Global Learning Coordinators in special projects related to their portfolios

Events support
- Provides logístical and planning support for a variety of Global Learning team events including participation in new student orientation, delivery of mandatory information sessions, and pre-departure and re-entry termly and annual events
- Participates in and take minutes during monthly exchange meetings

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
Direct experience in an educational or student support environment focusing on student mobility or international student needs required
- Proven experience in working with databases with an exceptional eye for detail
- Proven experience in public speaking/delivery of oral presentations to small/medium sized groups required
- Experience providing training or instruction an asset.
- Experience in program coordination and administration and asset.
- Demonstrated ability/comfort in the use of complex specialist software
- Experience supporting student staff and programming and program assessment for students in a post-secondary sector
- Experience working/studying internationally an asset
- Experience in event planning and student facing communications

Exceptional intercultural communication skills with experience working with and supporting students from diverse backgrounds
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including written, oral, one on one, and group
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team
- Sound understanding of UW policies and procedures related to student mobility programs and familiarity with the range of international experience opportunities available to Waterloo students is an asset
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to take initiative and be both creative and flexible
- Strong critical thinking, judgement and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and projects
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS teams, student information systems
- Office based, very occasional weekend and evening hours (events and information sessions) will be required
