The Payroll Technician works with colleagues to code and prepare payroll for unionized employees under federal jurisdiction. In support of managers, employees and the human resources team, he/she will ensure proper payroll management.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure payroll processing in compliance with applicable laws, labour standards and collective agreements
- Codify data entries
- Produce the payroll validation file
- Produce and verify Records of Employment and respond to requests from the Employment Insurance office
- Produce government remittances
- Produce various reports for managers and operations
- Brief employees and managers on payroll issues
- Assist in the preparation of T-4s and Relevé 1s
- Support Area Manager with various requests
- Perform all other related tasks
**Qualifications**
- DEC in accounting, administration or other related discipline;
- Two to five years of relevant experience;
- Bilingualism essential, French and English, both spoken and written;
- Excellent knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software;
- Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
- Knowledge of SAP (an asset);
- Rigorous, efficient and highly organized;
- Ability to perform well on different files simultaneously in a high-volume environment;
- Customer focus, autonomy and excellent team spirit
