Workland has an excellent career opportunity with one of our clients based in Gatineau, currently seeking a **Payroll Technician** who is passionate about payroll to join the team. **This is a temporary position with the possibility of a permanent position.**

Reporting to the Finance Department, the Payroll Technician will be responsible for making payroll while respecting all applicable CSST laws and for verifying and adjusting payments according to specific situations.

**YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE**:

- Ensure timely verification and processing of client payroll while complying with established laws;
- Perform necessary verifications regarding payments with respect to payees;
- Ensure that data is updated in the payroll system, namely: hiring, group insurance enrollment, salary changes, departure;
- Prepare statements and tax returns, such as pay slips, tax returns and payroll tax statements;
- Make payments to the social organizations (social security, pension funds, etc.);
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding their pay and provide clear explanations of pay items in a professional and courteous manner;
- Perform other related duties as required by the business and related to the position.

**REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION ARE**:

- Possess a professional or college degree in the accounting field or a certification as a Payroll Compliance Specialist;
- At least three (3) years of experience in the payroll field;
- Fluency in French, both oral and written.
