**Position Summary**:
GRT is looking for another Crew member to join our team at our Resource Recovery facility in Duke Point, Nanaimo.
This Plant Crew member is an intermediate role. responsible for assisting with soil wash plant facility operations and daily maintenance. Within the scope of his/her responsibility, the Plant Crew ensures that company water treatment systems and material processing machines are optimized and maintained for maximum output.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Record and maintain statistical information for all plant maintenance, productivity, reliability, equipment, service, inventory etc.
- Ensure production targets are met by operating and maintaining all aspects of the plant including water treatment, including:
- Data collection and entry;
- Reagent mixing and pump calibration;
- Lab duties: collecting samples, assaying, and generating reports;
- Equipment maintenance & general housekeeping.
- Analyze plant and membrane performance, complete daily process reviews, plant optimization & troubleshooting;
- Provide training, support and direction to employees when needed to ensure understanding of and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
- Conduct near miss, injury and collision investigations, completing corrective actions promptly and communicating resolutions broadly.
- Communicate with direct manager regarding possible issues impacting operations.
- Competent in both stick or wire feed welding.
- Competent in acetylene torch operations.
- Competent in using a plasma torch.
- Operate all plant and/or facility equipment.
- Help heavy equipment operator secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities.
- Remove rubble and other debris at facility and/or project sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment.
- Tend or feed machines or equipment used in facility/plant operations, such as mixers, shaker decks, screens, trammels, compressors, and pumps.
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove asbestos and other hazardous materials.
- Adhere to applicable safety and environmental standards, regulations and company policies.
- Other duties as required.
**Facility & Equipment**
- Ensure compliance with industry, company, and area standards, including making sure physical plant and transportation equipment is free from hazards and meets permitted requirements.
- Participates in training, inspection, investigation and continuous improvement programs.
**Educational and Technical Requirements**
- EOCP certification or equivalent experience managing water treatment systems
- Related trade certifications (millwright, power engineering, etc) are an asset
- Strong computer software (ie. MS Office) skills required.
- First Aid and WHMIS certifications would be an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
**Experience**
- Five to seven years of progressive experience in a plant operations or similar role.
- Basic knowledge of process chemistry (i.e. coagulation, flocculation, pH, filtration);
- Commissioning, start-up, and process plant operations experience are assets - ideally in industrial wastewater treatment including ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis
- Experience producing accurate reports within established deadlines.
**Physical Requirements**
- Must be able to lift and control equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk around project sites.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Bending, crouching, and kneeling.
