Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 400,000 tonnes of world-class pulp per year. Key to Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors. The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, the installation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbogenerator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro. Job description: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Steam Plant Shift Engineer to join our team at Harmac Pacific Pulp Mill. Under the direction of the Steam Plant Superintendent, you will support operations by supervising the shift operating crews which operate the plant’s Recovery and Power boilers, along with Power Generation Turbines and Effluent Treatment plant. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a 2nd Class Power Engineering certificate of qualification. A strong background working in the heavy industry is helpful . Well-developed interpersonal skills, a demonstrated track record of building a cooperative work environment, and the ability to manage change in the workplace are important attributes in this position. Along with your qualifications, you will be a proven performer who is excited about contributing to the business as a whole. Along with your personal drive, you will bring strong interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal form.
