Position Description:
The Project Manager, as part of the Strategy and Innovation team, is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring assigned projects and funding. This position will collaborate with KCA Executives, Directors, Managers, partners, and other relevant stakeholders to define project scope and objectives, develop detailed work plans, and provide regular project status updates to ensure project goals are achieved. The Project Manager will demonstrate proactive leadership, anticipating challenges to project success, identifying solutions, and making recommendations accordingly. This role will direct, advise, and/or support each assigned project in a way that prioritizes the delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive services to KCA’s affiliated First Nations. The Project Manager will accomplish this through collaboration, engagement, and data-driven decision-making.
Position Title: Project Manager
Department: Strategy and Innovation
Term: Full time, Contract until March 31, 2026, with potential for extension.
Location: Hybrid (work from home & in-office) at 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Leadership
Ø Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of assigned projects and funding.
Ø Develop workplans, timelines, and other tools needed to ensure project goals are met.
Ø Monitor and evaluate the project’s status and success, providing ongoing updates.
Ø Anticipate and address project issues and challenges, recommending and implementing solutions as needed.
Ø Monitor project funding, ensuring alignment with budgets, reporting, and funder requirements.
Ø Support service delivery teams to carry out service planning, implementation, and evaluation related to assigned projects.
Collaboration & Engagement
Ø Collaborate with KCA Senior Management, partners, and stakeholders to ensure project is carried out in alignment with community needs, KCA’s strategic plan, and funder requirements.
Ø Plan and participate in stakeholder engagement processes and partnerships.
Ø Actively engage with cultural experts, Elder’s Council, Youth Council, and Chiefs to ensure projects are culturally congruent and promote reconciliation.
Ø Represent and promote KCA’s code of ethics, mandate, and strategic initiatives through active participation in relevant committees, presentations, conferences, and other activities.
Use of Technology
Ø Utilize technology to develop, monitor, and implement project plans, timelines, and other tools that will support the efficiency of the project.
Ø Experience with databases and analytics tools is preferred.
Other Duties
Ø Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Ø Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Ø Experience in project management or coordination; project management certification is an asset.
Ø Experience working with digital systems, databases, or information technology, particularly in health, research, or community data contexts.
Skills & Abilities:
Ø Strong knowledge of project management principles, quality improvement, evaluation, and data collection processes.
Ø Proficient in working with data systems and digital tools, including database management, data extraction, and analytics for planning and decision-making.
Ø Comfortable navigating a range of technologies, with the ability to implement digital tools and systems that enhance project tracking, reporting, and data integration.
Ø Skilled in collaboration and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including community partners and technical teams.
Ø Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
Ø Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ø Demonstrated understanding of Anishinaabe culture and language, with experience working in First Nations communities.
Additional Requirements:
Ø Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Ø Must be willing to travel when required.
