Project Manager

Full-Time 2-Year Contract (New Position)

Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe'iyewigamig provides wholistic, primary health care to Indigenous people in Kenora and surrounding First Nation communities through a range of options including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our client-centered, interprofessional teams include health professionals, educators and support workers representing both traditional Indigenous, and contemporary models of care and use medical and community development concepts.

The Project Manager – Indigenous LLP Initiative is responsible for overall project leadership and accountability for a multi-year, regionally coordinated initiative funded by Ontario Health. This role ensures that project objectives, timelines, deliverables, budgets, and reporting requirements are met, while centering Indigenous governance, community engagement, and wholistic models of wellness.

The Project Manager works closely with internal clinical teams, First Nation communities, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, regional wound and vascular programs, hospitals, Ontario Health, and other system partners. The role supports co-design, implementation, and sustainability of a culturally safe LLP pathway, including prevention, early identification, coordinated wound and vascular care, traditional healing integration, physiotherapy-led rehabilitation, and post-amputation navigation.

NOTE: Traditional practices involving burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar and other cultural protocols occur regularly within our work setting.

Qualifications:

  • post-secondary degree in health administration, public health, Indigenous studies, social sciences, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • minimum 3–5 years of experience in project management, preferably within health care, Indigenous health, or community-based initiatives.
  • demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-partner projects with accountability to external funders.
  • knowledge of lower limb preservation, chronic disease management, wound care, rehabilitation, or related health system pathways is a strong asset.
  • experience working with First Nation communities and Indigenous organizations, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across sectors.
  • strong planning, organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • experience with monitoring, evaluation, and performance measurement an asset.
  • experience and demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, de-colonial, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach to support WNHAC values in meaningful ways;

  • deep understanding and experience of Indigenous culture, values, and perspectives as well as traditional and contemporary health care practices, and wholistic health and wellbeing; ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin a definite asset;

  • knowledge of historical trauma and the impacts of that history on the health of people, families, and communities;

  • experience working in an Indigenous organization; understanding and/or willingness to learn of Indigenous culture and values;

  • proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory;
  • valid drivers' license, own vehicle and willingness and ability to travel required;
  • criminal records check and current drivers' abstract required;
  • commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements; and
  • positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model.

Salary: $81,654-$106,540 with excellent benefits, including HOOPP pension plan.

Salary is based on education and experience.
