Communications and Office Assistant

The Riverbend Community Association (RCA) is seeking a part-time Communications Office Assistant to join our team.
Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Community Manager, the Communications Office Assistant must be a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual. The Communication Office Assistant will be responsible for communication, advertising for all Riverbend Community Association (RCA) activities and provide office administrative support as required when regular staff are away.
Hours: up to 48 hours per month (additional hours when providing absence coverage)
Schedule: 12 hours per week. Flexible hybrid schedule working remotely during office hours of:
Monday-Thursday 10-3 and Friday 1-6
with a minimum of two hours in office per week.
Required Skills/Competencies
■ Previous experience in communications, and in digital and social media marketing.
■ Intermediate to advanced computer skills within MS Office, Google environment and various social media platforms.
■ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to establish and maintain positive and constructive relationships with a variety of people including Board members, staff, volunteers, tenants, and customers.
■ Excellent organizational and administrative skills including strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage own workload.
■ Ability to take initiative, ingenuity and practical knowledge to interpret and resolve new situations.
■ Ability to write short articles, create social media posts, and routine correspondence.
■ Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to a small team, including the capacity to review and improve workplace practices.
■ Occasional work on weekends and/or during special events.
Areas of Responsibilities
■ Work closely with all community stakeholders to stay current on upcoming RCA programs, events and activities taking place at or in connection with RCA.
■ Communicate these programs, events and activities to Riverbend residents, our neighboring communities and Calgary, using our website, newsletter, social media, bulletin boards and other communication channels.
■ Engage with the Board of Directors and the volunteer Communications team when required.
■ Manage, monitor and create content for RCA’s active social media platforms to enhance engagement and increase community involvement using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
■ Maintain and update RCA website with relevant, current and dynamic content.
■ Research and stay current on the latest trends in digital and social media marketing.
■ Research and stay current on successful peer community marketing strategies and plans.
■ Attend monthly board meetings.
■ Attend RCA Annual General Meeting and prepare meeting recap in a timely manner for posting on the website and social media (24hr turnaround time)
■ Provide office administrative support as required when regular staff are away on leave. This include but not limited to:
■ Coordinate showing of the facility to prospective renters.
■ Process rental inquires according to the standard process.
■ Available during RCA business hours
■ Provide vacation coverage to the community manager for a period of one/two weeks.
