**Job Description**:

The Coordinator, Booking and Pre-Admission Services, provides leadership in the delivery of Booking Services. Works with clinical leaders, physicians and managers to ensure patients are booked appropriately within the available resources. Monitors issues with respect to the booking processes and recommends changes to improve patient access or utilization within available resources.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree in nursing, health information or administration with 7 - 10 years relevant experience in the health care field.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Relevant experience would include developing and implementing processes to ensure patients are appropriately booked and prepared for surgery, as well as supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Ability to assess the impact of changes to one part of the system on the overall system.
- Ability to assess complex situations and make appropriate management and clinical decisions that may have organization-wide ramifications.
- Ability to manage conflicting demands from the physicians, hospital departments and patient needs while maintaining a constructive working relationship with all parties.
- Sound knowledge of:

- Existing systems and processes that support movement of patients through the acute care system
- Booking and pre-admission systems and processes, in particular for surgical services.
- Principles of utilization management and quality improvement.
- Current issues with respect to patient access.
