Manager, Medical Imaging Booking and Patient Access

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, the Manager, Medical Imaging Booking and Patient Access, is responsible for planning, organizing and directing senior clerical staff and department activities and projects to support Medical Imaging booking and Patient Access that is high quality, patient centric across Island Health locations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree in health sciences, health information or administration with at least seven (7) years relevant experience in the health care field. Relevant experience would include developing and implementing processes to ensure patients are appropriately booked and prepared for medical imaging exams and procedures, as well as supervisory experience.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Excellent communication, problem solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to be self-directed, to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Ability to assess the impact of changes to one part of the system on the overall system
- Ability to assess complex situations and make appropriate management decisions that may have organization-wide ramifications
- Ability to set strategic priorities aligned to budget and clinical care standards
- Ability to manage conflicting demands from the physicians, hospital departments and patient needs while maintaining a constructive working relationship with all parties
- Computer literacy, particularly with the ability to access and use a variety of information system tools to support the delivery and evaluation of booking and pre admission services
Sound knowledge of:
- Existing systems and processes that support movement of patients through the health care system
- Booking and waitlist management systems and processes, in particular for medical imaging
- Principles of quality improvement and change management
- Current issues with respect to patient access
