**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The primary role of the **Production Supervisor** is leading the day-to-day activities and maximizing operational efficiencies and quality performance, while ensuring Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality programs and SOP’s are being executed. This includes ensuring production plans are on schedule, meeting daily KPI goals, maintaining consistency product quality and integrity of all our GMP’s, Safety and Quality practices during the manufacturing process. In addition, they will be responsible for supervising, coaching and directing production operators and working collaboratively cross-functionally to achieve production objectives.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS**

**Plant Operations**
- Organize, deploy, manage and measure weekly/day-to-day production performance, consulting with Plant Manager regarding production schedules, staff requirements, equipment repairs, and other production concerns.
- Ensure daily production plan is carried out on schedule and consistent product is manufactured with quality and integrity.
- Respond to routine operational issues including troubleshooting mechanical and technical issues.
- Ensure routine checks assigned to production are completed.
- Manage controllable elements of cost to attain or exceed budget targets.
- Ensure all operations documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner and accurate inventory records are maintained.
- Responsible for reviewing and posting batch records daily, for ensuring that all production records are accurate for their shift.
- Responsible for identifying corrective and preventative actions, implementing and monitoring their effectiveness.

**Quality & Customer Focus**
- Responsible for fostering a Food Safety and Quality culture by practicing and enforcing compliance of FSSC 22000 and Food Safety and Quality system requirements in all aspects of plant production.
- Work collaboratively and maintain essential communications with other company departments to achieve plant operational results.
- Ensure GMPs are followed, and high standard is maintained at all times.

**Leadership & Human Resources**
- Develop and maintain a team-based work environment by providing leadership, direction, coaching, training, and clear and consistent communication.
- Identify training needs, develop, coach and provide training to production staff through OJT and sharing of personal knowledge and skills.
- Ensure a respectful, safe, and healthy work environment for production employees.
- Assist in the development of positive cross functional/department relationships.

**Safe Work Environment**
- Foster safe work practices by educating and enforcing standard safety procedures
- Ensure that no unsafe practices develop in the plant, perform periodic inspections, and enforce all the policies and procedures related to employee safety in the work environment.

**Continuous Improvement**
- Facilitate group collaboration and create a Continuous Improvement environment.
- Lead KPI review meetings, engage operators for input, develop action plans, and positively influence outcome.

**COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Ability)**
- Demonstrates leadership ability and interpersonal skills that engage employees, create a team environment, drive employee productivity and competence, and achieve dairy plant business goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to communicate one-on-one and in group settings.
- Focus on quality including the development and adherence to Quality Policy and standard operating procedures that create dairy plant efficiencies.
- Maintains updated knowledge and strong technical expertise of HACCP and ISO standards, regulations, and practices.
- Deals with changes, delays, or unexpected events in a professional and timely manner. Flexible and controlled under crisis situations.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- 3 years of production manufacturing experience (preferably dairy operations and/or food production plant) or relevant post graduate diploma.
- Experience in a team lead/supervisory role is an asset.
- Experience working under a HACCP/ISO system and maintaining this system.
- Results orientation with a disposition towards continuous improvement.
- Highly organized with excellent time management/priority setting skills and decision-making skills.
- Result oriented with ability to self-direct.
- Experience in a culturally diverse work environment.
