**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Working with a minimum of supervision from the School Administrator and in close cooperation with the Associate Director (Graduate), the MArch Chair and the Graduate Supervisor, the incumbent ensures the smooth operation of the graduate programs in the School of Architecture.
The Graduate Administrator acts in an advisory capacity to the Director, Associate Director (Graduate Programs), the Chair of the Master of Architecture program (MArch), the Graduate Supervisor and the Co-Chairs of the PhD and MAS in Architecture programs and is responsible for implementing the operational needs and goals as communicated by them on all matters associated with the management of the graduate programs (MArch 2-years and 3-years curricula; MAS; GDAC/GDIP; PhD in Architecture). The incumbent supports the Director, Associate Director, Chairs, Graduate Supervisor, faculty and students by providing advice on all aspects of graduate regulations, procedures, academic and administrative matters associated with the programs and administrative policy concerns; provides information for short
- and longterm planning purposes; acts as a liaison and in an advisory capacity on all graduate matters with the Director, Associate Director, Graduate Supervisor and Chairs.
The incumbent will provide support to the School by serving as a back up for them at times of holidays or sick leave of the School Administrator.
**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of University regulations and the procedures and precedents governing the processing of student records.
- Provision of accurate and relevant information to students and faculty requires strong interpersonal skills and a good knowledge of academic policies.
- Personal initiative is essential.
- Reliability, confidentiality and accuracy are essential qualities.
- Important to have the necessary organizational skills to deal with varied duties.
- Present experience, maturity and articulation, be capable of working with mínimal supervision, and be able to relate to others working or studying in a post-secondary education institution.
- Flexibility, resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
- Organization and prioritizing combined with strong interpersonal abilities are necessary skills. - Conflict resolution skills, tact and diplomacy and the ability to act with discretion in matters of confidentiality.
- Fast and accurate computer skills, utilize office automation software such as the University's BANNER system, as well as have a good understanding of the programs' and the University's policies and academic regulations as outlined in the Graduate Calendar.
- Thorough understanding of the on-going structural and procedural changes within the University, and the rationale underlying them is necessary.
**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Three-year university degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years of related experience in a university environment, or equivalent, including a sound knowledge of graduate studies.
