Graduate Engagement, Outreach and Marketing Officer

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Graduate Services and Registrar, the Graduate Engagement, Outreach, and Marketing Officer contributes to the creation and implementation of the graduate engagement strategy at Carleton University. The incumbent assists in adapting existing initiatives and creating new ones to help increase the enrolment of domestic and international graduate students at Carleton University. The incumbent must maintain good interpersonal relations and engagement with academic units, faculty, and staff across campus. The position works with the Graduate Supervisors and Graduate Administrators within academic departments to communicate graduate engagement initiatives and to act as a resource on specific graduate engagement and recruitment strategies. The incumbent maintains good relationships with external agents, organizations and governments for the purpose of graduate student engagement.
The incumbent contributes to ensuring that the graduate engagement initiatives of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs fit in to the overall strategic plan of Carleton University.
**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:
- Proven abilities to multi-task and coordinate several projects simultaneously and independently.
- Strong communication skills in conveying various messaging to a variety of audiences using different tools and technology including the delivery of presentations in a variety of formats.
- Abilities to use discretion in dealing with sensitive information from students and from the university.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of graduate students.
- Knowledge of recruitment practices.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international education systems.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of graduate academic programs, rules and regulations, admissions, funding models, and research opportunities and how they fit with current higher education trends and the competitive market.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpretive skills.
- Ability to implement graduate enrolment management strategies that are targeted and measurable, and to evaluate their effectiveness and recommend and implement change as per current best practices.
- Knowledge of community programs and services to assist with graduate students’ nonacademic life.
- Exceptional interpersonal and diplomatic skills as well as strong social and intercultural communication skills to build strong collaborative partnerships with other academic and non-academic departments and offices both on and off campus.
- The flexibility to schedule and travel as required in order to deliver presentations and represent Carleton University’s Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs at a variety of events.
- Demonstrated familiarity with and sensitivity to various cultural, religious and local traditions. He/she must have knowledge of the educational, historical and political background of all international recruitment markets and of the government policies regarding students studying abroad.
- The understanding to use different and current technologies in the carrying out of their duties. Knowledge of WordPress, Banner and Social Media platforms is considered an asset.
- A valid driver’s license.
**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:
- Minimum 4-year Honours Undergraduate Degree; Graduate Degree preferred
- Minimum five years of experience, working in a university setting, including 3 years in an enrolment management capacity
- Experience in a graduate academic setting would be considered an asset.
