Sanitation Supervisor

Reporting to the QA Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring sanitation protocols are maintained. The incumbent will implement company cleaning policies, perform daily sanitation inspections, and oversee the duties of the cleaning workers.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all cleaning and sanitation is executed in compliance with GMPs, Safety, WHMIS, HACCP and BRC standard
- Lead, coach, mentor and train Sanitation Team Members to ensure sanitation targets are achieved.
- Monitor the performance of Third-Party Sanitation Contract workers and hold them responsible in case of non-satisfactory performance.
- Maintain and verify daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation tasks and records.
- Responsible for the continuous improvement activities related to the Sanitation Program. Includes MCS updates, updating SSOPs and provide training to plant staff as required
- Oversee the inventory of sanitation supplies including chemicals, tools, and PPE. Issue items as required and manage replenishment based on maintaining a minimum safety stock.
- Oversee cleaning and wiping down of all area surfaces including but not limited to; walls, shelves, doors, light switches, ceilings as scheduled or needed for all common areas -change rooms, staff rooms, main hallways, over-head doors and staff entrance, etc.
- Oversee restocking of towel dispensers, hand sanitizers, soap dispensers, and gloves in production, wash bay and washrooms when sanitation inventory is low.
- Oversee team members to ensure all facility garbage bins are emptied and replaced with new liners as required.
- Get the spot cleaning done in case of emergencies. (liquid spill, garbage overflow)
- Able to operate and train other TMs on how to use equipment including floor scrubber, foam washing machine, compactor dumping machine and vacuum cleaners.
- Support and promote the company’s health and safety program, maintain a safe working environment and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and JHSC recommendations.
- Monitor and manage detailed cleaning of the facility on Saturdays with a team of sanitation workers.
- Coordinate and work with maintenance team to ensure proper removal, proper cleaning of any machinery parts, re-installation and sanitizing the surfaces before resuming production.
- Must be trained on 1) the sources of gluten (wheat, rye, barley, spelt, kamut and related grains), 2) the risk associated with gluten cross contamination and its impact on those with celiac disease; and 3) how to report instances of suspected contamination.
- Shared commitment to the development and continuing improvement of a positive food safety and quality culture
- Any other duties assigned
**Skills & Experience Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma related to Food Safety or Sanitation is an asset
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience with Sanitation in a food processing facility.
- Knowledge and experience with Sanitation function as it relates to Food Safety.
- Aptitude for continuous learning.
- Strong ability to communicate (i.e. read, speak and write) in English.
- Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point, Pivot Tables).
- Knowledge of industry related quality systems and inspection programs, cleaning systems (CIP) and chemicals.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, First Aid, Food Safety, Basic Food Microbiology, Lock Out and Tag Out, BRC standard and Health and Safety Regulations.
- Knowledge and experience in using sanitation equipment’s like floor scrubber ,foam washer and vacuum cleaners
**Working Conditions**
- Availability to work 5 days a week from Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday and Monday off.
- Must be flexible to work varying shifts and weekends ( based on the demands of the business),
- Able to work in cold, humid or wet manufacturing environment, work with chemicals and standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Typically, 8 hour day shifts with some overtime required.
- A team-based atmosphere with independent responsibilities

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
