**Opportunity**
**Position**: The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial educator to take part in the creation and launch of our AnimalSmart Humane Education programming. Reporting to the VP, Community Outreach Services, the **Humane Education Manager, Community Outreach Services** develops and ensures the effective delivery of curriculum and educational materials to foster compassion and respect for animals through humane education.
**Essential Duties Snapshot**
**Curriculum Planning and Development**
- Develops and executes the Humane Education plan across all communities
- Expands the humane education program to reflect the needs of different audiences
- Develops new curriculum and educational materials to foster compassion and respect for animals and to promote understanding and a sense of responsibility.
**Program Delivery and Community Outreach**
- Seeks opportunities to develop relationships to promote Humane Education within the education system, community organizations, youth clubs, etc.
- Develops a Humane Education program that is impactful and can be delivered through volunteers of a variety of skill levels, including the creation of supporting material that focuses on student engagement and promotion of humane education in schools;
- Manages the development of content for the Humane Education webpage, including engaging and creative learning materials for use by teachers in association with presentations
- Creates content for promotional materials as needed, delivered through a variety of mediums (social media, newsletters, website, videos, presentations, manuals, etc.);
- Develops and fosters relationships within the humane education field and represents the organization at educational and outreach events
- Develops and delivers educational presentations to a wide variety of learners and groups, including academic, educational, those in the community, and industry audiences of varying ages and backgrounds
**Program Analytics and Supervision**
- Develops and implements reporting tools to measure and demonstrate impact of program.
- Recruits in collaboration with Volunteer Development team, a group of volunteers to support delivery of the program
- Develops and delivers training program and ongoing support of teaching team of up to 100 volunteers
- Regularly hosts and mentors student teachers as part of their educational program placement
- Remains current with the evolving educational industry including trends, learning strategies and technology
- Additional duties as required by department

**Do You Have What it Takes?**
- University degree and additional post-secondary degree in education or related discipline
- Experience as a primary grade teacher in both a classroom and online settings preferred
- 3-to-5-years’ experience in curriculum development and delivery
- Experience working with volunteers, preferably in a supervisory capacity
- Understanding of humane education principles
- Knowledge of both child learning and adult learning principles
- Skilled and experienced in curriculum development, lesson planning, and presentation
- Knowledge of teaching methods to both meet the needs of educators and accommodate students’ varied learning processes
- Fluency in French preferred
- Experience working with Indigenous Peoples an asset
- Project management experience an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with availability to travel throughout Ontario
- Clear Police Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector screening.
