This position is responsible for translating and adapting English-language texts into French (and vice-versa) for national and local marketing, communications, corporate engagement, wish granting, financial services, and HR content. As a key member of the Communications team within the National Brand & Integrated Marketing division, the Translation Specialist will ensure that all translated materials for Make-A-Wish Canada (MAWC) clearly convey the meaning and intent of the original content and meet the established deadlines. This role focuses on delivering high quality, precise and culturally appropriate translations that align with Make-A-Wish Canada’s branding and communication goals. This role is based in Montreal and is a full-time, contract, hybrid position. The anticipated start date for the role is in late March 2025, with the contract ending on February 16, 2026. WHAT YOU WILL DO **1. Translation**: - Meticulously translate and adapt materials, ensuring the meaning, tone, and nuances of the source text are fully preserved. - Proofread, edit and post-edit final translated versions for accuracy and consistency. - Conduct research on industry, legal, technical, and scientific terminology to deliver the most accurate Quebec-specific translations. - Maintain and update translation tools by adding to the term base and translation memory. - Demonstrate expertise in French language style and rules (e.g., figures, symbols, etc.). - Knowledgeable in (or willingness to learn and use) gender-inclusive writing in French. **2. Project Management**: - Maintain and update the translation request tracker and work with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure requests are managed in a timely manner and meet the established deadlines. - Reorganize priorities and workload to accommodate urgent requests. **3. Branding**: - Ensure all translations align with Make-A-Wish Canada’s brand voice, guidelines, and policies. - Translate and adapt national campaigns, maintaining consistency with organizational messaging, policies, and guidelines. **4. Collaboration**: - Work with the other translation specialist to define the Foundation French writing guidelines and choices, confirm all new terminology, coordinate proofreading tasks, and solve project management-related issues. - Regularly liaise with internal clients to clarify any uncertainties. - Collaborate closely with the Quebec Communications Specialist, Development Team, and other stakeholders to build translation expertise and address all translation needs effectively. - Create and manage various bilingual and French-language tools and templates for internal and external use (e.g., presentation files, lexicons, archived reference materials). - Provide training on inclusive writing practices for the Quebec team. WHAT YOU BRING - Bachelor’s degree in Translation (English to French) from a recognized university. - Five years of professional experience in translation, including some in a structured environment being an asset. - Fluen
